Please Note! We have postponed this clinic until January 2021. Please check back here and on our Facebook page for further updates. Thank you!
In the upcoming months, Horse and Rider Connection will be hosting clinics focused on teaching mental health professionals about equine assisted therapy. In January, we will be hosting An Introduction to Horses for Mental Health Professionals.
The goal of this clinic will be to demonstrate the very basics of equine assisted therapy. Topics will focus on equine body language and psychology, and how working with horses is beneficial to humans.
This clinic is targeted towards licensed therapists, psychologists, councilors, teachers, doctors and nurses. Our goal is to offer professionals a better understanding of how and why equine activities help everyone, from at-risk teenagers to military veterans.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with a horse on the ground, if he or she is comfortable doing so. The clinic will be held outdoors. Dress warmly! We will be following Maine COVID-19 safety guidelines; masks are required.
$40 to participate. $10 to audit. Funds from this event support Horse and Rider Connection's mission: pairing rescue horses with teens and young adults facing life challenges, to help them develop and improve life skills.
If you want to participate, please email Maria at maria.horseandriderconnection@gmail.com.
We are looking forward to the opportunity to share how horses can be such a tremendous resource to individuals in need.
